Dr Emily Wilton – PhD, MSc.Appl, CASANZ CAQP

Managing Director and Principal Air Quality Scientist

Emily Wilton leads Environet and has over 30 years experience in air quality science and management in New Zealand. Prior to setting up Environet in 2001 she was an air quality scientist at Environment Canterbury.   She has specialist expertise in particulate pollution, including monitoring, data analysis, source apportionment including emission inventories, health impacts, air quality research, visibility and air quality management.  Emily was part of the national air quality research programmes team for “healthy urban atmospheres” and prior programmes.   Her qualifications include a PhD specialising in air quality (visibility degradation) in Christchurch and a masters degree (awarded with first class honors) in air quality management. She hold a bachelors degree majoring in Chemistry and Psychology, is a member of CASANZ and is a Certified Air Quality Professional. 

In 2022 Emily was awarded the CASANZ Clean Air Medal.  The clean air medal is the most esteemed CASANZ award and Emily is the first New Zealander to have received this award. The Clean Air Medal recognises contributions to the prevention of atmospheric pollution that are innovative and are of significant effect scientifically, technically, economically, socially or politically.
